We’re having fun this weekend hosting booths at Acacia, EARTHS and MATES Elementary schools. We’re providing free eco art fun by turning unwanted bottles into wacky halloween lanterns and making recy led flower headbands in the name of creative expression and the environment.
Wacky fact: these bottles were purchased by a company for their lids only. Not the bottles that go with them.
The good news about reusing everyday things in open-ended art is the natural connection that occurs between the student creating and their imagination. Logan had a idea before he had his hands on materials to use so once he did have time with some raw, recycled materials he was on his way to developing the big idea he’d been thinking about for weeks. Cardboard, paper, tape and string brought it to structural life. Once he had all the pieces together
This month we have a Spotlight on cardboard, a widely used and recycled material and one that can be found on campuses weekly. How about reusing cardboard as mini canvases for students to paint in any way they choose.
We used water color here. It’s fun to use, easy to clean up and gives the painter endless possibilities for a little self expression.
Try it!
